FTP Instructions

This guide shows how to setup FTP for your website. This website uses Cute_FTP as example FTP client. Instructions remain the same for users of all FTP clients except the minor changes in display screens. For questions, please contact support at support@hostnex.net.

You may download Cute_FTP from http://cnet.com.

1. Start CuteFTP
2. The screen below should be visible. If it is not press F4. Click the New button, and enter the information as seen on the screen below. This information was provided on account setup and was aslo emailed to you.
3. Click Connect (as seen on the screen depicted above).



4. On successful connection, you will get a status screen like the one here. Click OK.



5. The main CuteFtp Dialog will remain. The window on the left is our computer. The one on the Right is our FTP directory (Hostnex's Server).

Note: You will see 4 directories: WWW, DB, SPECIAL, and LOG. You will upload your files to WWW directory. The DB directory will hold your database. Log directory will have the raw access log files and Special diectory is used to keep the mails. You are not supposed to do anything with 'log' and 'Special' directories.



6. To move a file to our FTP site, simple drag it to the right window as shown here.
Note: Avoid filenames with spaces or unusual characters.



7. When you drag a file (or files), Acknowledge the confirmation dialog by clicking Yes. The Send status appears at the bottom of the window.
